The United States could see something soon that hasn't ever happened in the history of our country.
Demographers tell the Wall Street Journal that the population of the USA could drop for the first time ever. They blame COVID-19 deaths, lower birth rates, and tighter restrictions on immigration into the country.
The birth rate has dropped 4% in the last year. That's the largest drop in 50 years.
The early numbers say the population of the country grew 0.31% in the last year. They say it's possible that the growth shrinks to less than zero.
