Families of the Uvalde school shooting victims have filed a lawsuit against FedEx and UPS, alleging the companies played a role in the massacre of 19 children and two teachers.
The lawsuit claims that FedEx and UPS violated state and federal laws, as well as their own corporate safety standards, by delivering a rifle and a Hell-Fire trigger device to the gunman.
According to the suit, the gunman ordered the rifle online, which was then shipped to a Uvalde gun store where he picked it up.
The lawsuit highlights UPS's carriage conditions, which stipulate that shipments must not contain anything that endangers human or animal life.
"UPS and FedEx acted in combination and/or collusion to provide AR-15 modified to machine guns to persons…under 18 within school zones," the lawsuit says.
"Effectively UPS and FedEx acted as illegal gun runners to a juvenile."
In addition to suing FedEx and UPS, the victims' and survivors' families have filed wrongful death lawsuits against Meta, the parent company of Instagram, Activision, the maker of the "Call of Duty" video game, and gun manufacturer Daniel Defense.
