NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Deck the halls — the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has arrived in New York City.
The 12-ton Norway spruce has completed its 145-mile journey from Elkton, Maryland. This year’s tree was donated by Maryland’s Devon and Julie Price, who own a few acres of property on the Delaware-Pennsylvania-Maryland border.
The spruce is estimated to be between 85 and 90 years old and weighs about 12 tons.
“We never considered that our tree would be the one on display for the world to see at Rockefeller Center,” Devon Price said in a statement. “It truly is quite the honor.”

Earlier this week, the tree was lifted by a crane and placed on a flatbed truck for its journey to New York City.
A crane will be used to position the tree at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where it will stand throughout the holiday season. Over the next few weeks, scaffolding will mask the spruce as it’s strung with more than five miles of LED lights.
The 50,000 multi-colored bulbs will shine during a tree-lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1.
