It was all "Child's Play!"
An attack by a Chucky doll on a subway in New York was reportedly staged as part of a social experiment.
The video went viral earlier this week.
It shows a person dressed as the killer doll from the horror franchise attacking a maskless rider as she fights to free herself from his grip.
“Get the f*** off of me — what are doing you?” the woman can be heard yelling in the clip as the horror franchise character grabs her leg.
“Somebody help her,” one passenger screams but instead of offering assistance, everyone moves away or takes out a phone to record.
Eventually, a man grabs Chucky and pulls him away.
Now, self-described actor, comedian and influencer Miguel, who played the role of Chucky, confirmed to the New York Post that the incident was part of an elaborate prank to gauge the reaction of riders.
Brooklyn filmmaker Rodrigo Valencia took the video. Sara, the woman being attacked, describes herself as an actress on her Instagram profile.
“I expected people to at least help her out,” Miguel explained to the outlet. “She’s a female screaming for help surrounded by people and not one person reached out,” he added.
Miguel also spoke to the Daily Dot where he said the experiment was meant to test if New Yorkers would help a woman being attacked by Chucky.
“As expected, no one helped. Instead, they decided to record,” he said. Shortly after the events in the clip, it was shared widely across social media including on Reddit and Instagram.
Miguel said Sara was purposefully not wearing a mask to see if it “would affect people helping her out in this situation.”
The crew recreated the prank on another subway cart and said just like in the first go-around, no one jumped in to help.
While some comments questioned how no one could help the woman, another user noted that “this should happen to everyone on the subway that doesn’t wear a mask.”
