Ask the Expert: What's with the fascination around Luigi Mangione?

New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg plans to charge Luigi Mangione with the murder of UnitedHealthCare's CEO Brian Thompson.

But, one thing seems to be different about this case: there are a lot of people who seem to support Mangione for some reason. Either they believe in what he's accused of doing, or they just think he's hot.

There are thousands of social media posts, and #FreeLuigi is trending. Others have started fundraising for him for his bail, even though the judge ruled he won't get bail. Some supporters have left messages thanking him and suggesting he "sacrificed himself for the greater good"

Dr. Alex Del Carmen, a professor in the School of Criminology at Tarleton State University, joined Ask the Expert on Tuesday.
