There is something about the Fourth of July holiday that leads to more mass shootings around this country. We saw it hit close to home with the mass shooting on Monday in Fort Worth, as well as one in Philadelphia and four others.

In fact, the Fourth saw 6 mass shootings this year. And as of this afternoon, we've seen 5 mass shootings today.

CNN looked into the Gun Violence Archive's numbers about mass shootings over the last ten years. It says four dates have seen more than 10 of them in any calendar year. Three of those dates... around July 4th and 5th in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

In fact, 9 of the 10 largest mass shootings happened in the summer.

On today's Ask The Expert, Dr. Alex del Carmen joined us from Tarleton State. He's a criminology professor.
