POTTSVILLE, PA (1080 KRLD) - Soon, people in Texas will no longer have to schlep to Louisiana to enjoy a Yuengling.
The 192-year-old Pennsylvania-based brewery will soon be expanding its offerings to Texas.
"This expansion is the first step as part of our joint venture with the Molson Coors beverage company to increase our reach -- the reach of our Yuengling brands outside of our current 22-state footprint," says Jen Yuengling, the company's vice president of operations.
Yuengling says the people of Texas has been begging for their beers for years.
"(We've had) thousands of fans who have been clamoring for our brands and smuggling our brands into the state for many many years now," says Yuengling, "(so) we felt like Texas was a great fit for our westward expansion."
Through the partnership, Yuengling's beers will be brewed at the Molson Coors brewery on I-35W in Fort Worth.
Yuengling, however, will remain an independently-owned family company.
"This joint venture, which is called the Yuengling company, is 50% owned by Molson Coors and 50% owned by Yuengling," says Jen Yuengling. "So it's basically an extension of our existing company."
Yuengling beers are expected to arrive at bars, restaurants and liquor stores sometime this fall.
"Being the largest family -owned brewery in the country, making quality beers for almost two centuries, we're really humbled to have the opportunity to bring our products to Texas," Jen Yuengling says.
