Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has nominated a new chair for the Public Utility Commission.
All three of the PUC's previous members resigned after the fallout from February's winter storm.
Governor Abbott has picked Peter Lake to chair the PUC. If the Senate confirms him, his term will expire in September of 2023.
Governor Abbott said in a press release on Monday: "Peter Lake has been a diligent public servant throughout his time with the Texas Water Development Board, and I am confident he will bring a fresh perspective and trustworthy leadership to the PUC."
Lake currently chairs the Texas Water Development Board.
The Public Utility Commission oversees ERCOT.
