Granbury has a new mayor.

Last night, the vote count showed businessman Jim Jarratt has won the special election to fill out the remainder of the term of former mayor Nin Hulett who resigned after a DWI arrest.

Jarrett ended up with 51 percent of the vote, enough to avoid a run-off with any of the other three candidates, one of whom is former city councilman Tony Mobly who stepped down from the council to run for mayor.

In turn, three candidates ran for Mobly's vacant seat and two of them are headed to a run-off. Neither Steven Vale nor Cathy Reidy earned the required 50 percent plus one.

The date for that election has not yet been set.  Jarratt's partial term runs through November of 2022.
