COLLIN COUNTY(1080 KRLD) - More than 21,000 voters have already cast their ballots today in Collin County, and so far there haven't been any long wait times, large crowds or tech issues.
"We started up with no problems," says Collin County Elections Administrator Bruce Sherbet. "We've had really no lines all day long of over 15 or 20 minutes at the longest."
Sherbet says the smooth sailing has to do with the early voter turnout. Nearly 70 percent of registered Collin County voters ... voted early.
Today, Sherbet says he expects 45 to 50,000 voters by the time the polls close. That would push the total voter turnout close to 78 percent.
"Which is something I can't compare with another one," Sherbet says. "I've looked back 6 presidential elections and we don't come close."
Despite the numbers, Sherbet says lines should stay short for the rest of the day, and as long as you're in line before 7 p.m., you'll be able to cast your vote.
