Early voting wraps up Tuesday in the various state municipal elections.

Dallas County Judge Clay L. Jenkins took advantage of early voting along with his family early this week.

He wants to see higher-than-normal voter turnout when voter turnout is usually low in city-wide elections.

"A lot of people skip these elections. These important, local, non-partisan elections," Jenkins said. "I don't and I encourage you not to as well because your voice matters."

Most ballots only have council and school district races but some cities may have propositions on the ballot.

"When you're looking at City Council and School Board races like this, this is what determines the quality of life in your neighborhood," Jenkins said.

Once early voting wraps up Tuesday night, voters can still participate on Election Day itself.

Election Day is Saturday, May 3.
