President Joe Biden is calling for $3 trillion in federal spending to improve the nation's infrastructure, including roads, bridges and other key components in need of repair.

But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Democrats are discussing the inclusion of a provision on drug prices in that infrastructure package.  Specifically, they are considering the idea of giving the U.S. government the power to negotiate prescription drug prices with a goal of lowering costs for consumers.  A similiar model is in place in the U.K., Canada, Australia and other nations.

Lawmakers from both parties have pushed for drug price legislation in the past, but Bloomberg's Steve Dennis reports the pharmaceutical lobby is among the most powerful in Washington. Dennis talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
