It's a record almost impossible to fathom. A South Texas State Senator has now cast 70,000 consecutive votes.
When Laredo Democrat Judith Zaffarini cast a vote Wednesday, it seemed like a routine matter on a routine measure. But it was in fact, a remarkable milestone with it being her 70,000 consecutive vote since she came to the Texas State Senate in 1987.
In these 36 years, she has not missed a vote.
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick who presides over the Senate presented Zaffarini with a commemorative gavel, saying "that is unbelievable."
Now in her 19th legislative session, Zaffarini has passed more than 1,200 bills.
