New polling from Texas Southern University shows Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton with a nine point lead over Senator John Cornyn in the upcoming GOP primary.
The new polling comes at the same time that Senator Cornyn released a number of new negative ads against his Paxton.
The new polling shows Cornyn trailing but not as badly as in other polls that have him down double digits.
Paxton has said that he is the one that aligns more with President Donald Trump.
The new poll shows Cornyn having a stronger lead against the possible democratic nominee Colin Allred.
Cornyn leads by four against Allred while Paxton leads by two.
