Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) was projected to defeat Democrat Mike Collier Tuesday night in a rematch of the 2018 race.

Patrick, a former state senator, was elected to his third term in office. He won the Republican nomination in March with 78.7% of the vote.

Collier is a former auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and an energy executive. He defeated state Rep. Michelle Beckley (D-Carrollton) in the Democratic primary with 41.8% of the vote.

Shanna Steele is running as an independent.
