Deborah Peoples is stepping down from her position as the Chair of the Tarrant County Democratic Party. She has held that position for nearly ten years.
People is one of two candidates to be the next Mayor of Fort Worth. She posted a message on-line saying she's putting all of her focus on winning the runoff election on June 5th.
Peoples received 34% of the vote in the May 2nd general election. She's facing Mattie Parker in the runoff. Parker received 31% of the vote. Parker was previously the Chief of Staff for out-going Fort Worth Mayor Besty Price and serves as the CEO of Fort Worth Cradle to Career, a non-profit group.
Both Parker and Peoples are scheduled to take part in a candidate forum on Wednesday sponsored by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
