Texas public school kids may soon be getting more Bible in the classroom.
Texas Republicans want to post the Ten Commandments in all public school classrooms. State Senator Phil King says that kids are crying out for some moral clarity. "Understanding our religious heritage in America and in Texas I think helps in that," King argues.
He says the Bible verse is already posted on a monument outside of the state capitol. And that was upheld by the Supreme Court. A similar law was passed in Louisiana, triggering a civil rights lawsuit.
It's currently pending before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Opponents say it violates the separation of church and state.
