Texas’s newest congressman Jake Ellzey has been sworn into office

Texas’s newest congressman has been sworn in and is ready to get to work.

Jake Ellzey was sworn in by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in Washington Friday.

He won this week's special election to fill the seat that was held by Ron Wright until he died of Covid back in February. Wright's widow Susan ran for the seat as well and had the endorsement of former President Trump and Texas senator Ted Cruz.

Voters in the 6th Congressional district decided on Ellzey, who says he's ready to move on.

Now that Ellzey has the seat, the Texas congressional delegation is back in full with 23 Republicans and 13 Democrats.
