An 11-year-old girl is dead as a result of a hunting accident in East Texas.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Department says the girl was shot by her father in a hunting accident Saturday near Hallsville.
An EMS care flight helicopter service was unavailable due to the weather conditions, so the child was transported to Longview where she died at the hospital.
The girl was a sixth-grade student in Hallsville.
The Sheriff's office along with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are investigating the shooting. Harrison County Sheriff B.J. Fletcher called it tragic for all involved.
Grief counselors will be made available for faculty and students at the school in Hallsville.
