New Year's Day is four months from Friday, and it's not too soon to think about getting 2024 calendars. A Texas coastal community wants to catch your eye with 12 monthly, full-color photos of cuddly canines and -- hunky firemen.
The Galveston Island Humane Society does this every year. Galveston firefighters have been working out all summer to get buffed up for Thursday's photoshoot, where they posed shirtless with dogs large and small, who are all adoptable from the shelter.
The dogs are cute and the firefighters are muscular. The proceeds from the calendar sales go to the Humane Society. The calendars go on sale in November. They call them, of course, Heroes and Hounds
