Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered more razor wire to reinforce the U.S.-Mexico border as Republicans intensify attacks on the Biden-Harris administration's immigration policy ahead of the presidential election.

Abbott directed engineers to install razor wire at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass to curb migration, emphasizing Texas' commitment to border security. Operation Lone Star, launched in 2021, has led to the apprehension of over 517,400 illegal immigrants and more than 45,900 arrests.

However, the operation has faced criticism from human rights groups for alleged mistreatment of migrants, including pushing them into razor wire. The Biden administration has clashed with Texas over the legality of razor wire, with Republicans focusing on Vice President Kamala Harris' role in immigration policy despite a decrease in migrant crossings.
