Tax breaks. Most people have thought at least once about how they could take advantage of them. If you're in Texas, there are couple of things you could use to your advantage.
"One of the reasons why people will have animals grazing on their property is that [it's] a favored land use in Texas," Christi Mondrik said. "And so that helps preserve the land. But it also gives the owner of the land an exemption. And so that helps them with their property values."
Mondrik owns a law firm in Austin and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She spoke with us about the different kinds of tax advantages that Texans have and of course, deadlines.
"We have the April 15 deadline coming up for filing federal income tax returns," Mondrik said. "That's for individuals. And that can be extended to October 15th. But one of the things people often don't know is that the extension of time to file does not extend the time to pay."
We can't avoid doing our taxes but Mondrik said it's important to learn about your opportunities and expand our knowledge to provide a quick and smooth process for tax returns.
