Students from Waltrip High School in Houston were in New Orleans during the attack that killed 15 people early Wednesday, but all members of the group have been confirmed safe, according to Houston ISD.
The Waltrip High School marching band participated in the Sugar Bowl Parade on New Year's Eve and also performed in Jackson. Houston ISD said its students, parents, and staff in New Orleans followed city safety protocols and were not near Bourbon Street when the attack occurred.
The group included students, 14 chaperones, and six Houston ISD police officers.
