
The state of Iowa is sending members of its National Guard to Texas to help along the border with increased security.
Iowa National Guard members will be taking part in the "Operation Lone Star" border security measure.
Reports say at least 109 soldiers from the Iowa National Guard will help Texas troops and members of the DPS along the border with Mexico. They'll be there through September 1st.
It's the third time Iowa's Governor has sent members of her state's guard to Texas.
Iowa is paying for the deployment using funds sent to the state through the American Rescue Plan. Iowa will also send members of its Department of Public Safety to Texas at the end of this month.
