Medical City Healthcare is expanding a program through grant money that brings students across Texas into the healthcare industry.
Maria Martineau is the Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement with Medical City Healthcare. She says since the Educate Texas program began in partnership with the Texas Education Agency, they have grown from 20 high schools to over 100 participating.
"We want to inspire kids to consider the healthcare field as early as possible," Martineau said. "It does take considerable amount of training for some fields, not for all of them."
Since 2022, nearly ten-thousand students have participated.
The program allows students to earn both their high school diploma along with a two-year post-secondary degree or credential.
