More than a dozen wildfires remain active this morning as crews spent another busy weekend on the fire lines.
The biggest one remains the Somervell County Chalk Mountain Fire which is over 6,700 acres. It's now considered 20% contained.
Near Possum Kingdom Lake, the "1148" fire has burned more than 500 acres in Palo Pinto County. No injuries have been reported in these fires, but more than two dozen homes and other structures were destroyed.
The U.S. Drought Monitor reports more than 99 percent of Texas is experiencing some level of drought conditions, affecting nearly 30 million people.
An estimated twenty percent of the state is seeing "exceptional drought", the most severe level.
Fire danger is listed as moderate-to-very high across the whole state.
