Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed another lawsuit against TikTok, accusing the social media platform of deceptively marketing itself as safe for children.
"TikTok actively worked to deceive parents and lure children onto their app despite the presence of an overwhelming amount of profane and illicit material," Paxton said in a statement.
The lawsuit seeks civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation under Texas law. It follows a separate lawsuit filed by the state months ago, which accused TikTok of unlawfully sharing minors' personal data.
TikTok has pushed back against these claims, stating that the platform includes robust safeguards for teens and parental controls to ensure a safe experience.
