After a day of winter weather in some parts of the state and severe weather in others, Texans are starting to tally the damage.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management is urging people to report damage to their land, homes and businesses using their iSTAT (Individual State of Texas Assessment) tool.
TDEM officials say they have videos on their website to walk people through the instructions, saying iSTAT can help them figure out where damage was concentrated and tally the cost to apply for a potential federal disaster declaration.
The Division of Emergency Management says it also has teams of people surveying winter weather damage in North Texas and the Panhandle, while other teams are around Houston and in Orange County east of Beaumont to check the impact of thunderstorms and tornadoes there.
