The Texas Department of Public Safety says troopers will be out in force this Labor Day weekend, stepping up patrols across the state from August 29 through September 1.
The enforcement effort is aimed at curbing speeding, drunk driving, seatbelt violations, and other risky behaviors that typically spike during holiday travel.
Last year’s Labor Day operation resulted in more than 53,000 citations statewide, including nearly 4,600 for speeding and 199 for driving while intoxicated.
The extra patrols are part of DPS’ “90 Days of Safety” campaign, which focuses on reducing crashes and saving lives during the busy summer travel season.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead, buckle up, and never get behind the wheel impaired.
