The state of Texas is seeking federal assistance to support cities impacted by severe weather earlier this month, including a tornado and damaging winds.
A line of severe storms swept through the Dallas-Fort Worth area and East Texas during the early morning hours of March 4, leaving a trail of damage in several communities. An EF-1 tornado touched down in Irving, while straight-line winds caused significant damage in Cedar Hill and Lewisville. Farther east, a building collapsed in the town of Wills Point.
The Governor’s Office has requested a disaster declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration, which would make residents and business owners in Dallas County and surrounding areas eligible for low-interest disaster loans to assist with repairs.
