The first therapy dog at a Texas children's hospital is retiring.

Golden Retriever Elsa and her handler Sarah Herbek have been comforting kids at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for six years.

Elsa was the first dog in the Houston hospital's "PAWSitive Play Program" which brings ill children in contact with their canine friends to cheer them up as they go through treatment.

Even with Elsa's retirement Friday, the "PAWsitive Play Program" has plenty of other dogs to carry on.
