With two inmates dead from a gang fight at the federal prison in Beaumont, the entire federal prison system with more than 100 penitentiaries, is now in lock down.
The federal Bureau of Prisons confirms that two inmates later identified as Guillermo Riojas and Andrew Pineda died at the hospital. Two other men were hurt.
The BOP says the nation-wide system is on lock-down out of concern that news of the fatal gang fight may spread across the country.
News reports out of Beaumont suggest the vicious brawl involved members of the notorious international criminal gang MS-13.
The Beaumont federal prison is a high-security facility that houses nearly 1,400 male offenders, many of whom committed violent offenses.
