Newly released records show a former University of Texas professor sought financial support from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for a campus conference on sexual consent, according to documents made public this week.

The records reveal that Professor Thomas Hubbard requested up to $20,000 from Epstein’s foundation in 2015 to help fund the event while he was teaching at the University of Texas at Austin. The documents, which surfaced through recently released Epstein-related files, show the request was made on university letterhead as part of outreach for conference funding.

According to the records, Epstein’s foundation ultimately did not provide any financial support for the conference.

Hubbard, who previously served as a classics professor at the University of Texas, later confirmed making the request, saying the outreach was part of broader efforts to secure funding from various donors. University officials have not indicated that the institution received any money from Epstein in connection with the proposal.
