In Uvalde, a student and the parents will be punished after the child brought a gun to campus earlier this month.

On February 1, a student at Morales Junior High School allegedly took a gun from their home, without his parent's permission, and brought it on campus, according to officials.

During a school board meeting last night, Uvalde Superintendent Ashley Chohlis made the announcement.

Cholis said Uvalde CISD Police would file charges against the parents of that student. Also, the students who saw the weapon and did not report it were also disciplined. They are being expelled for the rest of this year and suspended for part of the next.

Chohlis apologized for not saying something sooner and more publicly about this incident.
