A poll shows most families plan to avoid talking politics at Thanksgiving dinner this year. The survey by YouGov shows 71% will try to avoid the topic.

The same poll asked people what they are most thankful for. Seventy-nine percent said they were thankful for family and friends. KRLD talked to some families lining up for the first day of Grapevine Vintage Railroad's North Pole Express this week.

"Family's number one, for sure," one dad said. "I'm thankful for life itself."

"I'm thankful we can host Thanksgiving at our house because it's always fun getting ready, making everything and having everyone over," his daughter said.

Another family said their daughter had just been released from the hospital after a car crash.

"We're grateful we're not in the hospital. We just got out," the mom said.

Health ranked second in the YouGov poll, listed by 71% of people. Freedom ranked third at 58% followed by faith at 49%.
