A break in the storms through Friday, they return this weekend

North Texas Forecast for Wednesday, June 4, 2025
North Texas Forecast for Wednesday, June 4, 2025
National Weather Service

Most of the rain is gone for now but it will be returning late into the weekend and into the first part of next week. Flooding may be a concern by then as well.

Wow! What a night! Anywhere between no rain and over 4 inches of rain fell across North Texas. There were not a lot of hail reports, except west of DFW, just many reports of flooding across the area. Time to calm things down a bit for the rest of today with just a few scattered showers around this morning. Any storms that form later on this afternoon and evening should be south and east of DFW. Afternoon Hines will be cooler, low 80s.

Cold front will lift to our North tomorrow up into Oklahoma and will sit there into Friday and Saturday as well. This will set a railroad track up for showers and storms to follow over the next 48 to 60 hours. As of now, I think the bulk of the rain will stay in Oklahoma until early Sunday morning. Can't rule out some storms sinking close to DFW on Saturday morning. Temperatures are going to warm up as well. Upper 80s tomorrow, low 90s Friday and Saturday. Near 90 on Sunday.

Storm chances start to ramp up as this cold front sags farther south Sunday through Tuesday of next week. Where it stalls will set up a railroad track for waves of heavy rain across North Texas starting Sunday morning and continuing to move in by Monday and Tuesday mornings as well. If the front stalls right on top of us, our flooding threat heightens next week. Storms will be marginally severe because of the time of the morning they're coming in. Stay tuned for timing, precipitation amounts and severity over the coming days.

Have a great day today, do not cross water covered roadways of unknown depths, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
