A few fortunate individuals witnessed a shower or storm yesterday, and a similar scenario is expected to unfold today. Temperatures will remain hot and the atmosphere will stay humid throughout the weekend, with virtually no precipitation forecasted. However, next week's outlook is distinctly different.
Good morning, and happy Friday.
We're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper 70s, with a few showers showing up on radar. Partly cloudy conditions will prevail, with a slight chance of a late-day shower or storm. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 90s again, with some areas approaching 102 degrees, although no heat advisories are currently in place.
The weekend weather outlook is hot, humid, and dry, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s, and some areas reaching 102 degrees, influenced by the ridge of high pressure across the four corners of the United States.
Next week's weather appears unsettled, with a front moving into the area late Monday and Tuesday. Most of the rain is expected to remain north of us on Monday, but a decent chance of showers and storms returns on Tuesday and Wednesday as the front moves in from the northeast. Cloud cover will increase, and many areas will experience precipitation.
Temperatures on Monday will remain hot, with highs in the upper 90s, while Tuesday and Wednesday's temperatures will depend on the front's position and cloud cover. Currently, highs in the low to mid-80s are anticipated for Tuesday, and near 80 degrees on Wednesday. Updates on rainfall coverage and temperature trends will be provided as we progress through the weekend and into next week.
Storm chances will begin to taper off on Thursday, with temperatures warming back into the low 90s, making for a pleasantly warm day.
A quick update on Hurricane Erin: It is currently located approximately 425 miles south-southwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and about 430 miles north of Bermuda, moving northeast at nearly 25 miles per hour. As of 5:00 a.m. this morning, wind speeds have decreased to 90 miles per hour, with the storm continuing to move towards the United Kingdom over the next couple of days.
Another disturbance is being monitored well off to the east of the Lesser Antilles, with the Hurricane Center tracking its potential development over the next few days. This system has a higher chance of moving into the Caribbean next week. Stay informed.
Have a great day today, a terrific weekend, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
