Be prepared to utilize your umbrella through the weekend, as scattered showers and storms are anticipated to impact the area, although many locales will remain unaffected. Moreover, temperatures will continue to exceed average levels.
Happy Friday, ladies and gentlemen! This week has been remarkably warm, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-90s, surpassing our average high of 88°. This temperature trend is expected to persist through next Tuesday, with highs ranging from the low to mid-90s.
North Texas is situated on the northern periphery of an upper-level high-pressure system. As this system gradually shifts westward late this weekend and into next week, a couple of upper-level disturbances will traverse North Texas on Saturday and Sunday. While isolated storms cannot be ruled out, they are expected to dissipate rapidly after sunset.
As the ridge continues its westward shift, a cold front is anticipated to move through the area on Tuesday or Wednesday, increasing storm chances across North Texas. Presently, late Tuesday and early Wednesday appear to be the most favorable periods for storms, some of which may become severe. Upon the front's timely passage, slightly drier and cooler air is expected to infiltrate the area by Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Further clarification will emerge by early next week.
Have a terrific day today, an enjoyable weekend, and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
