Be sure to retrieve your jacket, beanie, gloves, and a frost scraper for your windshields, or warm your car up before heading out this morning. We have reached a milestone, as DFW airport has recorded its first freeze of the Fall season.

As of 5:00 a.m., the temperature has dropped to 30°, with potential for a couple more degrees of decline before the 8:00 hour. Additionally, frost has developed on windshields, so ensure you warm your car up before heading out this morning.

You will need your jacket throughout the day, as temperatures will only rise to the low 50s, accompanied by a light wind and plenty of sunshine, making for a crisp fall day. Surface high pressure will shift eastward today and tomorrow, bringing southerly winds briefly back to North Texas, resulting in a warming effect that will raise temperatures to the mid to upper 60s on Wednesday. However, do not let your guard down, as another strong cold front will arrive close to bedtime Wednesday, bringing clouds and scattered drizzle for Thursday.

Temperatures will drop to the mid to upper 30s by daybreak Thursday, struggling to rise above 40 degrees during the afternoon, making Thursday similar to yesterday.

Data indicates that the bulk of measurable rain will remain south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Thursday, although light rain showers and drizzle are possible, but not significant enough to fill rain gauges. Clouds will linger until Friday mid-afternoon as temperatures rise back to the 50s.

If you are looking forward to a pleasant weekend, I can assure you that afternoon highs will return to the low 60s on Saturday, but another dry cold front will pass through Saturday night, dropping temperatures to the mid to upper 50s for highs on Sunday, without any accompanying rain. Morning lows will be in the 30s, so be sure to protect plants and pets once again.

Enjoy this chilly morning and the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
