One more slight chance of showers and storms is expected tomorrow, but thereafter, a prolonged period of dry weather is anticipated. Welcome to the mid to late July period. At least it is Friday, marking the end of another week.

Temperatures have yet to reach 100 degrees. Will this change today? Some weather apps and forecasters suggest so, but a high of 97 degrees at DFW is predicted. This would be the highest temperature felt thus far this year, still short of 100 degrees. Factoring in humidity, the temperature will feel like approximately 103 degrees. Please ensure adequate hydration.

A system tracked across the northern Gulf over the past few days is now situated north of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and is moving east into a high-pressure bubble in the upper levels. This disturbance will be suppressed by Sunday. However, widespread heavy rain with thunder will move into East Texas today. A few of these could affect our southeastern counties later this afternoon, with a better chance tomorrow afternoon along and east of a Waxahachie to Dallas to McKinney line. Any showers that form will dissipate rapidly after sunset. Highs tomorrow will reach the mid-90s, with mid to upper 90s expected on Sunday.

Next week will be characterized by dry conditions, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 90s at least through Thursday, and morning lows in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

A quick check on Central Texas and the Hill Country reveals no rain in the forecast for the next seven days. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-90s, with morning lows in the mid to upper 70s. Heat index values will approach 100 degrees in the river valleys. Please ensure adequate hydration and take regular breaks.

Have a great weekend and continue to pray for Texas!
