A warm opening weekend for the State Fair of Texas, no rain for the next several days

thursday
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

If you can be patient and wait until the end of next week, you will start to enjoy the weather again. Some of you may love the 90s that we've been feeling the past few days. For those of you who do, I've got 7 more days of 90° plus weather in the forecast for you heat seekers.

A large bubble of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will continue to grip North Texas through next Wednesday. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid-90s, with morning lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s.

Our light wind at the surface will continue one more day today, therefore an Air Quality Alert is in effect once again. Starting tomorrow and especially into the weekend, the south wind will pick up and gust to 20 mph Friday and Saturday, up to 25 mph into the middle of next week.

Now let's talk about our weather change coming. Right now it looks like late Wednesday into Thursday our first decent cold front of the Fall season will arrive. While it's way too early to say how widespread the shower and thunderstorm activity will be, at least it's back in the forecast.

We'll still hit 90° on Wednesday, but by Thursday afternoon highs may drop into the upper 70s as the rain presses south and east of us. Some of the extended weather data I'm looking at has a second stronger front arriving into Friday through next weekend. This may drop afternoon highs into the upper 60s to mid-70s with morning lows in the fifties area-wide! Now that's something to be excited about.
