A warm start to the new year, some of you will get lucky on Thursday and see some rain, and then they return the seasonal norms on our temperature regime as we head into the upcoming weekend. Those are your weather stories over the next 7 days across North Texas.
Good morning my friends and followers and welcome to 2026. The first full week of the new year. We're waking up to temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s at this hour under a clear sky and a bit of dew on your windshields. No rain is on radar and I'm not expecting any until possibly the second half of Thursday. Plenty of sunshine will dominate your day today with afternoon highs jumping up into the mid-70s.
Tonight will be fair and mild with morning lows in the low to mid-50s. Plenty of sunshine tomorrow with highs near 80°. The record high for Tuesday is 79°. Increasing clouds on Wednesday with highs approaching 80° again. The record high is 83°. I'll keep an eye on a possible record on Wednesday as well.
An upper-level low will be cruising through New Mexico on Thursday bringing an increase in cloud cover across North Texas and a chance of some showers with a rumble of thunder or two the second half of Thursday. The best chances will be along and north of Interstate 20 and the heaviest rain will fall up into Oklahoma. I'm not expecting any severe weather at this time. Afternoon highs will hold in the seventies during the day.
Our next weather change arrives on Friday as a strong cold front blows through the area. Winds will shift to the North during the early afternoon and temperatures will reach the mid-60s before falling into the 30s by Saturday morning. North winds will gust 30 to 35 mph putting wind chills in the 20s when you wake up Saturday morning.
Plenty of sunshine will dominate Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Morning lows will get close to freezing on Sunday and Monday morning, especially north of Interstate 20. A slow warm-up is expected until next week.
Have a terrific day today and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
