Above average temperatures and slight chances continue

North Texas 7-day forecast for Thursday September 18, 2025
North Texas 7-day forecast for Thursday September 18, 2025
National Weather Service

We are four days away from the commencement of fall, ladies and gentlemen, but unfortunately, the weather will not reflect this seasonal transition until the middle of next week. Additionally, there is a likelihood of showers and storms through Sunday, with slightly improved chances late Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Happy Thursday kiddies! We are awakening to a mostly clear sky, a bright horizon, and pleasant temperatures. Current readings range from the upper 60s to mid-70s. There is no weather activity on the KRLD weather radar. Today will be similar to yesterday, with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the mid-90s. A few isolated areas may experience late afternoon and early evening showers or storms, but most areas will remain dry.

A disturbance and a stalling cold front moving in from the northwest overnight will produce numerous showers and storms across Oklahoma. These will weaken as they move southeast through tomorrow morning. Areas along and east of Interstate 35 have a slightly greater chance of morning showers, while most areas west of 35 will remain dry. Morning lows will drop into the upper 60s and low 70s. Temperatures will rise rapidly tomorrow, reaching the low 90s, with isolated late-day showers or storms possible. The best chances for precipitation will be just east of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The weekend is expected to be decent, although temperatures will be warmer than typical for this time of year. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s, while morning lows will be in the low 70s. Isolated late afternoon or early evening showers or storms are possible, but most areas will remain dry.

Fall officially commences on Monday, but the weather will not reflect this seasonal transition. Skies will be partly cloudy, with highs in the low 90s. Most areas will remain dry throughout the day, but there is a chance of showers and storms moving in from the northwest by late evening and early Tuesday morning, along with our next cold front.

There is a possibility of scattered showers and storms on Tuesday, with slightly cooler temperatures. Highs will be in the mid-80s. We can expect further cooling on Wednesday, under mostly sunny skies, with highs reaching around 80 degrees.

Please be patient, as cooler temperatures will eventually arrive as we head into October. I assure you that this will happen. Have a great day today and please enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
