Above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation will characterize our weather pattern over the next 7 days across North Texas. I wish I had more favorable news to share.

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Monday. It's hard to believe it's Christmas week, and even more astonishing that winter officially began yesterday. Unfortunately, it won't feel like winter for quite some time.

We're waking up to a stratus deck overhead, but no precipitation is currently showing up on radar, and I don't anticipate any until possibly late Saturday and early Sunday, along with our next cold front. Temperatures range from the upper 40s to the west of Fort Worth to the 50s elsewhere, which is unusually mild for this time of year. We'll experience some breaks in the clouds this afternoon, with highs reaching close to 70°F, which is 13°F above average for this time of year.

Morning clouds and afternoon sun will be our prevailing weather pattern through Saturday. Afternoon highs will rise into the upper 70s, possibly reaching or slightly exceeding 80°F west of Interstate 35W. While we'll come close to breaking records each day, I believe we'll fall short.

Unfortunately, the prevailing winds over the next six days will increase the mountain cedar content in the atmosphere. Those susceptible to Mountain Cedar, like myself, should take their allergy medication each morning before heading out and consider taking another dose before bedtime.

Our next subtle weather change will arrive late Saturday and early Sunday, as a seasonal cold front passes through the area. I anticipate a few showers along the front, which will cool temperatures back into the low 60s by Sunday. We'll warm up again shortly thereafter.

No stratospheric warming or Arctic outbreaks are expected in the foreseeable future. Ensure you obtain your weather reports from reliable sources. Have a great day today and enjoy the weather while you can, it's the only weather you've got!
