Another cold front is on the way

Another cold front is on the way

A lot of the state desperately needs rainfall, and unfortunately, I don't see much rain in the forecast for the areas that need it most over the next seven days. However, rain chances will increase in some parts of Texas as we head into the upcoming weekend.

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to almost Friday!

It's another nice, cool morning across North Texas, with temperatures dipping into the upper 40s and low 50s once again. High pressure has shifted east of us, allowing southerly winds to briefly return late yesterday evening. Those winds will continue through mid-afternoon today, bringing plenty of sunshine.

I'm tracking our next weather maker, although it will be a rather subtle one. A cold front is currently working its way through the northern Texas Panhandle and will arrive here during the second half of the day today. Before it moves through, temperatures will climb into the upper 70s, making today the warmest day around here over the next seven days.
The front should move through before the evening rush hour, bringing in another round of much drier air. Unfortunately, it won't bring us any rain. Instead, we'll see a bank of clouds develop overnight, with temperatures dropping back into the upper 40s and low 50s.

Tomorrow will be cooler, with afternoon highs approaching 70 degrees, which is right around average for this time of the year. North winds will gradually weaken as we head into the weekend.

Clouds will begin increasing on Saturday as a very strong upper-level disturbance moves into West Texas and southern New Mexico. This system will spread clouds across North Texas during the day Saturday, and they'll stick around through much of Saturday evening before gradually moving out by Sunday.

Unfortunately, our air mass will be too dry to support much rainfall. Any showers that develop on radar across North Texas will likely have a difficult time reaching the ground.

However, it will be a different story across the southern half of the state, where some much-needed rainfall is expected. If you're heading down toward Austin, especially San Antonio, Houston, or Deep South Texas, you'll want to keep an eye on the forecast late Saturday and into Sunday as rain moves into those areas.

Around North Texas, expect more clouds this weekend, with afternoon temperatures generally hovering in the mid-60s both Saturday and Sunday.

Southerly winds will return Monday and Tuesday of next week, allowing temperatures to gradually warm back up. Look for highs close to 70 on Monday, lower 70s on Tuesday, and back into the mid-70s by next Wednesday, Veterans Day.

By the way, morning lows this weekend will dip into the 40s, so it will be pretty chilly if you're heading out early!

All right, I hope everyone has a great day today! Thank you for following my page. Please like and share so we can keep North Texas weather aware!
