ANOTHER HOT & DRY WEEK AHEAD FOR NORTH TEXAS!
Another hot and dry weekend is officially in the record books here across North Texas, my friends! Unfortunately, the heat and drought show no signs of letting up anytime soon.
WHERE WE STAND: • Approximately 49 triple-digit days so far this year. • 60 consecutive days without measurable rainfall at DFW Airport. • Drought conditions continue to worsen, with severe to extreme drought (D2–D4) covering parts of North Texas.
ANOTHER WEEK OF HEAT!
Heat Advisories are in place once again today, with afternoon highs near 100°. You can pretty much add Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to that list, too!
High pressure remains firmly in control in the upper levels of the atmosphere, keeping our skies mostly sunny, temperatures hot, and rain chances practically nonexistent.
WHEN WILL WE SEE RAIN?
I don't see much of a rain opportunity until possibly late Sunday afternoon or evening, with better chances potentially arriving early next week.
A POSSIBLE PATTERN CHANGE?
Now, let's talk about something we desperately need: a change in the weather pattern!
Early next week, forecast models suggest a system could move in from the Northwest, possibly dragging a cold front behind it.
Forecast data beyond seven days is still just a trend, but over the past few days, we've seen indications of a wetter and cooler pattern developing. That could mean more clouds, some much-needed rain, and perhaps a little relief from the heat.
Fall officially begins a week from tomorrow, so maybe Mother Nature will give us a little taste of autumn right on schedule!
Of course, we still have to wait and see if this pattern change actually materializes. But folks, we desperately need both the rain and the cooler temperatures!
HEAT SAFETY REMINDER:
If you're working outdoors, please take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water, and avoid the hottest part of the afternoon.
Never leave children or pets in a hot vehicle, even for a minute.
Check on your pets and make sure they have plenty of shade and fresh water.
Keep an eye on elderly and disabled family members and neighbors.
Stay cool, my friends! Have a great day, and enjoy the weather when you can. It's the only weather you've got!
