Another round of severe weather on the way this week

Another round of severe weather on the way this week

Following an active weather event that impacted North Texas late Saturday, conditions calmed down yesterday, resulting in a beautifully warm day. However, as we approach the end of April and enter May, active weather is expected to pick up, starting late Tuesday.

Good morning, and I hope you had a decent weekend without sustaining any damage from the Saturday evening storm. Currently, low clouds and mild temperatures in the 70s greet us. As we warm up today, we can expect some breaks in the clouds, with highs approaching 90 degrees. The record high is 92 degrees.

Tonight, temperatures will dip back into the 70s with low clouds. Tomorrow, temperatures will return to the low to mid-90s. A cold front will edge into our northern counties by late afternoon, producing scattered showers and storms. Any storms that develop may produce hail, damaging wind and isolated tornadoes, particularly in NE Texas.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and cool with patchy drizzle. Highs will reach 70 degrees. By Thursday, our next weather system approaches from the SW. This system will create an overrunning situation, where moisture moves over a cooler air mass, resulting in temperatures struggling to rise above 65 degrees on Thursday.

Widespread rain will move in from the west, with heavy rain possible late Thursday and Friday before the system slowly exits by the first half of Saturday. Temperatures will remain in the low 60s on Friday.

We can expect partial clearing on Saturday, with highs in the mid 60s. By Sunday, we will see a return to the mid-70s with sunshine.

Again, we have a threat of severe weather late Tuesday evening and a heavy rain event late Thursday through Friday, with totals reaching three to four inches in some areas, especially towards the Red River. Please remain weather-aware!

Have a great Monday and enjoy the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got!
