The first half of Mother's Day weekend will be nice before widespread rain returns on Sunday and again by the middle of next week.

Friday morning started beautifully with temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Northerly winds will continue to usher in dry air through Saturday with afternoon highs close to 80 degrees each day.

The next weather change rapidly approaches by Saturday evening. Rain could enter western parts of North Texas after dinnertime, but the bigger event arrives on Mother's Day with widespread rain and thunder. It's not likely to be severe, but most areas will see at least an inch of rain with temperatures hovering near 70 degrees all day long.

The rain will slowly press off to the south on Monday with highs near 80 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday look dry, but humid as temperatures jump back up into the mid to upper 80s.

The next weather change will approach late Wednesday into Thursday as a strong storm system heads toward North Texas. It looks like storm chances will be ramping up towards Wednesday evening into Thursday. It's still too early to tell how widespread the possible severe weather will be.
