The rain has moved out for now, with a couple of pleasant days ahead, and then more rain returns late Friday in conjunction with Valentine's Day. We definitely need it!

Good morning, my friends and followers, and welcome to Wednesday. I hope you had a productive Tuesday. We are waking up to cooler temperatures and clear skies across North Texas, in the wake of a cold front. Readings have fallen into the mid to upper 40s. Unfortunately, DFW Airport only measured 0.01 inches of rain yesterday, while other areas saw about 0.05 inches of rain. Sorry about that.

A couple of beautiful days are ahead, characterized by plenty of sunshine and low humidity. Afternoon highs today will reach the upper 60s, with mid to upper 70s forecasted for tomorrow, accompanied by a slow increase in clouds by evening.

Our next weather system is moving into California and will track eastbound towards Texas, producing a substantial amount of rain in West Texas and the Panhandle by Friday afternoon. This first batch of heavy rain will work its way from southwest to northeast, narrowly missing the Dallas Fort Worth area. Currently, I anticipate areas along and northwest of a Gainesville to Weatherford to Stephenville line having the best chances for some decent rainfall totals Friday evening. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-70s.

Saturday will be a rainy day, with the dryline cruising through the area during the afternoon, producing a large area of showers and possibly some thunderstorms. Currently, I anticipate the strongest storms will develop along and east of a Sherman to McKinney to Dallas to Waxahachie line, where some storms may become severe, particularly into the Ark-La-Tex and East Texas Saturday evening. Most areas will see at least a half inch of rain across DFW, with isolated higher totals northwest of us.

The surface low will move east of us late Saturday night, clearing our skies by late morning Sunday. Temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to low 50s, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 60s, accompanied by a north wind at 10 to 20 mph.

This pleasant weather will persist on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the low 70s on Monday and upper 70s with plenty of sunshine on Tuesday. Morning lows will mainly be in the 40s to low 50s.

Enjoy the next couple of days and the weather when you can, it's the only weather you've got.
