Below average temperatures for DFW today and tomorrow, slight rain chance

Monday Weather
National Weather Service - Fort Worth

A few lucky ones saw a cooling shower and storm yesterday, but most stayed dry. Unfortunately, nothing was measured at DFW airport and I'm not expecting much rain until possibly towards the holiday weekend, but even then, chances are slim.

The big weather story this morning is the pleasant temperatures. The cold front that moved through the area late yesterday afternoon and evening, brought a couple of showers and storms with it, but the radar is quiet at this hour. There's a slight chance for a few afternoon and evening showers and storms anywhere across north Texas today, but the best chances will be across the southern half of the state along the stalling cold front.

We're waking up to temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s... Pretty darn nice for this time of the year! Partly cloudy and not nearly as hot today, with afternoon highs only near 90°! Wind will be from the north at 10 to 20 mph.

A couple of more pleasant mornings are ahead, with readings falling into the upper 60s to low 70s, afternoon highs will creep up into the low 90s tomorrow, mid 90s for Wednesday and Thursday.

By Friday, an area of moisture pooling in the Gulf of Mexico south of Mobile, AL will head Southwest towards the lower Texas Coast by midweek , and then shoot northbound along I-45 this weekend. This coupled with daytime heating (upper 90s) and increasing humidity will give us a chance of some afternoon and evening storms. Right now, it looks like the best chances will be to the east of Dallas and Fort Worth, but we're still 5 days away and this is subject to change. It's going to be a race, will the upper-level ridge build back across the area squashing any rain chances, or will the center of this low head right over DFW. it's still way too early to forecast accurately.
